Shanghai Engineering Research Center of Medical Equipment and Technology, Med-X ('Engineering Center'), affiliated to the Science and Technology Commission of Shanghai Municipality, is a cross-disciplinary platform for research and education on advanced medical devices. The aim of the 'Engineering Center' is to promote the development of medical instruments, and to establish close cooperation with hospitals and enterprises.
        There are 26 members in the Engineering Center, including 1 Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, 14 Professors and 11 Associate Professors. Based on their excellent contributions, a number of these faculty members have become Chang Jiang Scholars, Distinguished Young Scholars of National Science Foundation, and SJTU Distinguished Professors.
        There are the following research directions in the 'Engineering Center': Tumor physical therapy technology and equipments; diagnostic technology and equipments; and research and training for the standards of medical devices. There are the following translational research bases in the 'Engineering Center': 1. Ultrasonic and Radiotherapy Research Center at Shanghai Sixth People's Hospital; 2. the Gynecologic Oncology Research Center at Renji Hospital; 3. Micro PET/CT Research Center at Ruijin Hospital; 4. Cancer Research Center at Fudan University; 5. Brain Tumor Research Center at Huashan Hospital; and 6. Joint Research Laboratory for Medical Device Standards.
