IEEE International Summer School on Neural Engineering (ISSNE 2019)

Echoing the booming techniques and applications in neural engineering, we propose to organize an international summer school on neural engineering (ISSNE) in Shanghai, China, sponsored by IEEE EMBS and hosted by Shanghai EMBS chapter. IEEE ISSNE summer school was founded in 2013 in Shanghai and was hosted biennially. The program will be held each summer since 2017, in coordination with other summer schools sponsored by EMBS, e.g. international summer school on medical devices and biosensors, international summer school on biomedical imaging, international summer school on biomedical signal processing, and international summer school on bio-complexity.

On the afternoon of October 18, 2018, the signing ceremony of the bilateral international exchange and cooperation agreement between the Department of Biomedical Engineering of Shanghai Jiao Tong University and the Department of Bio and Brain Engineering of Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) was successfully held at the Med-X Research Institute in Xuhui Campus. From the SJTU Biomedical Engineering Department, Party Secretary Ji Bo, Vice Dead Tong Shanbao, Director of KAIST Department of Bio and Brain Engineering Kwang-Hyun Cho, and 24 professors and scholars of neuroscience and engineering, biomedical instrumentation, nano-biomaterials, etc.
Successful Conclusion of the 2018 SJTU-KTH Joint International Summer School

The one-week joint international summer school between Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) and Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) on the topic of "Health and Engineering" successfully concluded on June 15th, 2018 in room 108 of SJTU Library in Xuhui Campus. This summer school was funded by the SJTU Graduate School International Summer School project and was hosted by School of Biomedical Engineering, SJTU. A total of 22 doctoral students, 12 from KTH and 10 from SJTU, participated in this summer school; they were from 10 countries, including China, Sweden, and the United States.

Theme with “freeze moments, campus life”, the "Study Tour Landscape" mobile phone photography competition was launched by the School of Biomedical Engineering, from Oct. 26 to Nov. 5. A total of 40 photographs got the final qualifications, these works are diverse in style, including not only the lovely cat, but the newborn experimental mice and the distinctive architecture as well. Each piece of those works display the landscape in their unique way, which had drawn lots of appreciations from teachers and students.
