Hongchen Gu

Dr. Hongchen Gu is Associate Dean of SJTU School of BME. He received his Ph.D. degree in Chemical Engineering in 1992 from East China University of Science and Technology. From 1994 to 1995, he was a visiting professor at Pennsylvania State University. From 2008 until now, Dr. Gu served as the Dean of Nano-biomedical Research Center at School of BME.

Dr. Gu’s research interest lies in controlled synthesis of nanomaterials, surface modification and its applications in biomedical science. In recent years, his research on nanomaterials for diagnostics and therapy of important diseases has reached meaningful results. Several achievements have already been transformed to clinic successfully. Dr. Gu and his group has published more than 200 academic articles and applied for more than 30 patents.
