Tianqi HUANG
Tenure-track Assistant Professor at Shanghai Jiao Tong University. He received his Ph.D. from Tsinghua University in 2020, where he subsequently conducted postdoctoral research. He joined Shanghai Jiao Tong University in 2024. His research focuses on human spatial cognition and machine spatial cognition. By integrating technologies such as light-field three-dimensional display, augmented reality, and surgical robotics, he investigates spatial information perception, representation, interaction, and intelligent decision-making methods for medical applications. His previous work has systematically explored novel light-field 3D displays and medical 3D display systems, with particular emphasis on how 3D visual information can more effectively support human spatial understanding, medical education, surgical navigation, and robot-assisted surgery. He also investigates the ability of machine systems to perceive, model, and execute tasks in complex three-dimensional spatial structures. His research has led to a series of advances in human-machine collaborative spatial cognition, medical 3D visualization, augmented reality-based navigation, and intelligent perception for surgical robotics. In recent years, he has published more than 30 papers in international journals such as Optics Express, IEEE Transactions on Biomedical Engineering, and IEEE Robotics and Automation Letters, as well as in top international conferences in robotics and computer science, including ICRA and IEEE VR. He has received five Best Paper or Best Student Paper Awards at international conferences and has filed or been granted more than 10 invention patents. He has led projects funded by the General Program and Young Scientists Fund of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and has participated in five national key and major projects, including the NSFC National Major Scientific Research Instrument Development Project and the “Digital Diagnosis and Treatment Equipment Development” key special project under the National Key R&D Program of China.
