    A public class re-evaluation was held in the Chen Ruiqiu Buiding Lecture Hall #100 at the Minhang Campus on December 28, 2017. The vice-dean of the School of Biomedical Engineering, Professor Jun Zhao, was elected among 15 teachers and awarded the title of “Kaiyuan Best Ten.”

    The “Kaiyuan Best Ten” award is evaluated based on student self-organization, participation, and selection to determine their favorite teachers and to pay tribute and show appreciation for their work.

    During the presentation segment, Professor Jun Zhao gave a public lecture titled "Seeing the Unseen: Rapid CT and MRI Imaging". He covered the basic principles of CT imaging, methods to create a fast imaging mode for high-speed scanning, and principles to realize various CT imaging applications that are not directly seen by the human eye. The lecture is followed by fMRI’s techniques to reflect the state of human brain activation, and concluded with his opinion on the future of this field. His lecture was easy and humorous, and was accompanied by vivid examples of medical imaging technology applications, leaving a last impression for the audience.

    Over the 26 years since Professor Jun Zhao has stated teaching, he has devoted himself to the development of the School of Biomedical Engineering, and focusing on training interdisciplinary talents. Even through his heavy research duties, he always insisted on giving undergraduate lectures. As of now, he has held over 40 different courses that included over 3,000 students. He has also instructed more than 60 graduate students, and attained numerous achievements.

    Jun Zhao has always been a mentor and a friend with his students. He said: "I am grateful to the students for bringing me happiness, fulfillment, and accomplishment. When students ask me to witness their marriage, I think of myself as a person they wish to remember for a lifetime. When students give me news regarding their newborns or the successes in their careers, I always feel very happy as if I was their parent or an elder brother. And when my students domestically and aboard send me greeting cards or blessings, I am filled with fulfillment and joy. I will continue to devote my limited life to the noble cause of cultivating students, encouraging them to devote their limited lives to the noble cause of improving human health, and to make contributions to a healthy China and the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation!”
