Service Information

SJTU Med-X-Ruijin Micro PET/CT Joint Research Center is located at the Department of Nuclear Medicine, Ruijin Hospital, Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine. The center was jointly established by SJTU Med-X Research Institute and Ruijin Hospital, which serves as a platform to screen new drugs and study pathological mechanisms.
In vivo molecular imaging effectively facilitates the study of gene expression, gene therapy and drug delivery. Small animal high-resolution micro PET/CT provides an important tool for molecular imaging. The center has advanced equipment including a Siemens Inveon micro PET/SPECT/CT, a medical cyclotron, several radiopharmaceutical synthesis systems, and advanced laboratories of radiochemistry, radiobiology, and pharmacology. In addition, an autoradiography system will be soon introduced into this center, which would provide support to not only basic research but also translational studies. The research directions of this center include: 1) Exploring novel PET probes targeting different malignant cancer types; 2) evaluating therapeutic efficacy of radiotherapy and chemotherapy; 3) exploring novel PET/SPECT probes for neurodegenerative diseases such as cerebral vascular diseases, Alzheimer's disease, and Parkinson's disease; and 4) developing algorithms for neuroimaging data analysis. After continuous effort during the past few years, the joint research center has grown up to be a professional facility with advanced facilities and technologies for practicing medicine, educating students, and conducting research. This center has served as a national key institute for clinical trials for radiation drugs and nuclear medicine.
The PIs of the center include: Dr. Guo-Yuan Yang, Chair Professor, SJTU Med-X Research Institute and School of Biomedical Engineering; Dr. Biao Li, Professor and Director of the Department of Nuclear Medicine, Ruijin Hospital, SJTU School of Medicine; and Dr. Yuhong Xu, Professor and Associate Dean, SJTU School of Pharmacy.
