Dr. Jian Ye received the B.E. degree in 2000 and the M.S. degree in 2003 in polymer science and engineering from Zhejiang University, Zhejiang, China, and the Ph.D. degree in 2010 in chemistry from Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (KU Leuven), Leuven, Belgium. From 2003 to 2005, he was at Intel Products (Shanghai) Ltd. as a Material Engineer. From 2005 to 2010, he performed the Ph.D. research project in Interuniversity Microelectronics Centre (IMEC) vzw, Belgium. Since 2010, he has been a Postdoctoral Fellow of the Research Foundation–Flanders (FWO), KU Leuven. In 2011 (March–September), he was with the nanophotonics group of Prof. Naomi Halas at Rice University as a Visiting Scholar. He joined the Med-X Research Institute of Shanghai Jiao Tong University as a Special Research Professor in 2013. He has been involved in a number of industrial and European research projects and has authored or coauthored 45 referred papers, 1 book chapter, and 5 patents. Dr. Ye has received the 2009 Chinese Government Award for Outstanding Self-Financed Students Abroad, the 2009 IMEC Scientific Excellence Award, and the Best Student Paper Award of 2010 International Conference on Nanophotonics (Japan).
Research interests: (1) design, fabrications and biomedical applications of plasmonic nanostructures; (2) biomedical applications of surface enhanced Raman scattering.
