Hong Xu received her PhD degree in Materials Science from Shanghai Jiao Tong University in 2008. Dr. Xu is a Special ResearchScientist in Nano Biomedical Research Center, School of Biomedical and Engineering / Med-X Research Institute. Her research focus on the development of new method to preparation of composites nanoparticles with precisely controllable structures and functions, application of functional nanomaterials for ultrasensitivebiodetection, development of novel point of care test method, label free liquid chip detection system and multiplex detection system. She developed a novel method titled as hybrid miniemulsion technology to synthesize organic/inorganic hybrid nanobeads with high nanomaterials content, more abundant functional group and more interesting microstructure and surface morphology. She has published more than 50 papers in peer-reviewed journals and applied22 international or national patents.
