Dr. Song Li is a Visiting Chair Professor of SJTU School of BME. He is a Professor of Bioengineering at UC Berkeley. Prof. Li received his Ph.D. degree from University of California, San Diego, in 1997. He has published more than 100 peer reviewed full-length articles in international journals including PNAS, JCS, JBC, Biomaterials and Nano letter, as well as 12 book chapters, 5 patents and more than 110 conference & symposium proceedings and abstracts. He gave more than 100 invited lectures and talks. He is an AIMBE Fellow, and also won a number of honors and awards, such as Whitaker Foundation Research Award in 2002, Hellman faculty Award in 2004, Scientific Development Award of American Heart Association in 1999. Dr. Li is actively involved in expanding the curriculum and promoting graduate/undergraduate research activities in the area of cell and tissue engineering. Dr. Li has introduced a new course on Cell and Tissue Engineering, which is offered in the summer program at SJTU. His research interests include: Vascular cell and tissue engineering; stem cell engineering; mechano-chemical signal transduction; biomimetic matrix and molecules; bioinformatics and applications in tissue engineering; and molecular dynamics.
