Dr. Jiang Chang is a Professor of Shanghai Institute of Ceramics, Chinese Academy of Science, and an Adjunct Professor of SJTU School of BME.He received his Ph.D. degree in 1991 from the Technical University of Darmstadt in Germany. Dr. Chang spent two years as a postdoctoral fellow at the Medical University of Luebeck in Germany, where he worked on collagen-based biomaterials and artificial skin for wound healing. He then spent four years (1993-1997) as a Research Fellow at the School of Medicine, University of Auckland in New Zealand, where Dr. Chang conducted research on the cell-biomaterial interactions and cartilage repair. Dr. Chang was appointed as a Research Assistant Professor in New York University School of Medicine from 1997 to 1999, and a research scientist at Johnson & Johnson from 1999 to 2000, where he studied biomaterials for bone and cartilage regeneration. Since 2000, Professor Chang has been a Professor of Shanghai Institute of Ceramics. His research focuses on bioactive materials for tissue regeneration. Professor Chang has had over 120 scientific papers published in international peer-reviewed scientific journals and 33 patents in the field of biomedical materials. His research interests include: Biodegradation and bioactivity materials for tissue repairing and tissue engineering; biomaterials for drug carrier and drug delivery; mechanisms of interactions between cells and biomaterials; and physical and chemical properties and biocompatibility of biomaterials.
