上海交通大学讲席教授。现任上海交通大学党委常委、副校长,兼任上海市科协副主席、上海市侨联副主席,上海市生物医学工程学会名誉会长。
1991年获美国伊利诺大学(UIUC)热物理博士,先后在美国纽约市立大学、普渡大学机械工程系及生物医学工程系工作十多年,并获得终生教席副教授。2002年全职回国在上海交通大学任职。主要研究方向包括生物热物理基础研究及其在肿瘤治疗中的应用,多模态肿瘤射频治疗创新医疗仪器研发,同步光源X射线肿瘤早期诊断研究、微纳米药物热靶向输送等。研究工作曾先后获得多项国内外基金支持,包括美国国家癌症研究所(NIH)、美国国家自然基金(NSF)等项目支持。在本领域高水平期刊和学术会议上,发表论文及论文摘要180余篇,并参与了五本书的编写工作。
现为国际学术组织ASME Fellow, AIMBE Fellow, 和IEEE资深会员,中国学位与研究生教育评估委员会副主任,中国医学工程学会常务理事。
获得全国三八红旗手等荣誉称号。
