In biomedical research, one is often faced with the challenge of small biological samples, even down to single-cell levels, to perform disease-related detection of nucleic acids, proteins and metabolites. Single cell immunoblotting for trace cell protein analysis has been developed, as well as SlipChip-based microfluidic systems that can produce a large number of nanoliter and sub-nanoliter droplets with simple loading and slipping operations. Mass spectrometry (MS) chips for in metabolomics, proteomics, and single-cell omics is also developed. These platforms have been applied to various clinical applications, such as tumor, infectious diseases and cardiovascular diseases with large patient cohorts including over 100,000 subjects, supporting new strategies in translational medicine.
